As a sneak preview let me reveal that I did a DAE test on God's CD ripper: Plextor PX-716A (as described in the EAC site). Yes I know that EAC does not support it, but you can repeat that test with a Plextools rip and compare. Anyway it does so poor interpolation (when it cannot fix errors) that my no-name CD-Drive in my Vaio laptop kicked its butt big time, so Plextor can give me a favour. I will post about it in a few weeks' time. Oh yes and as a professional R&D engineer I can tell you that the bugs I found in Plextools would not even make their trip into our QA department let alone leave the company. Shame.
Sorry I had to get it off my chest. I am a bit busy in the next few weeks, but I swear I will post my details, because I find that this drive is average at best in concealing errors, which is paramount when you buy old used CD-s like me (which are generally properly mastered). I am mad because I bought it based on all the hymns everybody sings about them and that cdrinfo review where they posted a DAE test that was clearly invalid.
