erm, shhh - just a smidgen of innaccuracy there - the latested test version is Lame_may which reports as alpha10 but seems to be a retained-source post alpha 10 test version released on the coat tails of the "when's 397 coming?" discussion ;] No ones tested it yet...

Interesting that an Alpha version is being recommended as an encoder by a 3rd party.
I'll wait for the stable version.

Softpedia seems like a site that will host anything and everything. I bet they have the "amazing" mafuka encoder.
I'd rather see 3.97 files than Xing anyday, heh. It saddens me to see people posting fhg cbr files on usenet, even stuff released this year! At least someone finally updated the archaic faq on http://www.mp3-faq.org/, so that now it _mentions_ LAME!

Hardly. I looked for it for years, to be featured at ReallyRareWares, and found no leads. Only obtained it after I wrote a request for it at RRW's main page, and a kind dude almost immediately sent it to me.
