I've ripped lots of CD's on the ol' pc running win 98 SE.
Anyway I'm setting EAC/Lame up on my pops new pc with WinXP Home edition.
Lame (the exe) can't run because its dos based. So when EAC loads it, it disappears and i'm stuck with .wav's.

Help?
(me thinks i should download the .dll instead of the .exe so I'm downloading now.
But I'm not sure wether EAC will work fine with the .dll.Oh well i'll try it anyway.)

Crap the .dll can't be found.

Is the URL correct?

Simply use the latest version of LAME.EXE (v3.92) along with the RazorLame frontend. It works great for me!

By the way, I'm not sure that DLL-based encoders are compatible with EAC, so you may not want to bother with that method.

Or that lovely program john33 made "LameDropXPd" available from rjamorim's web site! Just drag and drop all the wave files and out pops Lame encoded MP3s, as simple as that biggrin.gif.

BTW: john33 any possible updates to be made to LameDropXPd?

By the way, LAME isn't DOS-based. It runs in a Windows commandline environment.

Ok people, thanks for the help.
Turns out my mistake was that i wrote "--alt-preset standard %D %S", instead of the required "--alt-preset standard %S %D".

So when the compressor opened and immediatly closed because of an invalid command i thought it was because MS restricted MS-DOS programs(it runs them emulated and isn't very generous with supplying resources) and the proggie couldn't run properly.

It works now, and i feel kinda stupid.Oh well.
