hi there,

i wonder why this can be . i use same razorlame/lame with exact 100% same settings on 2 different pcs (amd, intel notebook) . i just took one same .wav file (100% same, checksum test) on both pcs, and started encoding. file size result is different. why this can be ? cause of intel/amd ? i took several other .wav files e.g. a whole cd-album just for fun and started encoding on both pcs with same razorlame, same lame, same settings.. ALL SAME! . but some were different. some were same! . i compared via checksums...

any ideas why ?

i didnt find any other thread which discusses this.

The difference is probably caused due to different floating point instruction sets being used (3dnow, sse, x87). There difference between the two encodings is likely not to be audible, though.
