Full Version: Good CPU cooling software for AMD processors?

Hi everybody,

I've been using for some time a CPU cooling software (VCool 1.8) in my AMD Athlon XP 2000+. Summer is quite hot here and without it the PC would hang on the hottest hours if I leave it on several hours for ripping or audio coding.

But this program seems not to be developed anymore. Does anyone know a good cooling alternative for AMD CPUs with VIA chipsets?

And also an audio related question (to show that this is HA) smile.gif

Has anyone experienced bad audio or dropouts when using this kind of cooling software? I think most of them warn you about this risk, but I haven't noticed anything special...

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Carlos G.

You must set it!
at what temperature, what action should be taken etc etc?

This program can directly slow down bus speed (if ur motherboard is supported) to decrease temperature

of course, the best way to overcome heat problem is by using hardware such as better heat sink, better ventilation

No audio dropouts, but I don't use CPUCool anymore, I just open off my casing so that the air can ventilate better.

Programs like that don't decrease the maximum temperature (when CPU is heavy at work), just the idle temperature (when CPU doesn't have much to do). So having such a program won't help you in preventing hangs.
I use SpeedFan (supports both "HALT Detect" & "STOP GRANT disconnect" bits), but I have nForce2-based mobo.
