Full Version: Albumwrap plugin?

I'm wondering if there's a albumwrap plugin or if anyone might have ever thought of writing one. Since it's a somewhat proprietary (but not that complicated) format I think and not that widely used (today there are better or more convinient alternatives like cuesheets or ogg's chaining), I wonder if there is any need for it at all.

The Albumwrap extractor may be found on some old servers or big shareware collections, so if you really want to extract your old ALBW files then I guess you'll find a way. I even stumbled upon a tutorial to salvage ALBWs damaged by destructive retagging.

All this (extracting, salvaging) plus the possibility to create Albumwraps with a plugin might be a nice final tool for the ALBW format, and it would fit into the all-purpose music player.

What do you think?

Alba extractor is an opensource program that extracts albumwrap files.

Yupp. Alba extractor work on albums that AlbumWrap extractor don't work on.... (I think AlbumWrap extractor don't work at all on files that have been retagged and such....) If Alba don't work you might have to look into mp3DirectCut and such or just leave them as they are..... Doubt anyone would bother making a plugin for this, but then what do I know....? Do people really still use that AlbumWrap stuff, BTW?

Since I stopped using WinMX, I can hardly see any ALBW-ed mp3. Maybe it's easier to zip it. smile.gif

Creating Albumwraps with a plugin will never be possible : Albumwrap itself is shareware.

if you have a cue file for the full album you can use mp3directcut to split it. U can edit a cue file yourself or find one by using 'freedb easy navigator'.

Thanks for your replies! I've never heard of alba before, I will check it out. Last release is two years old tho. And I don't have any broken ALBW files, too. tongue.gif

I expected to hear that there is no albumwrap plugin for fb2k, it's just not necessary and there's no demand.

But Alba is GPL. (Depends on what you want to do I guess.) Still I guess the chance for such a plugin is slim.
