Hey Roberto, do you want to host this on your Brazilian server?

sad news indeed sad.gif sad.gif

FYI Doom9 still has a mirror ATM.

It's a very sad day. But every one said this when Napster, then Morpheus, then Kazaa went down. Now we have Bit Torrent. There WILL be something next.

Seems like the (MP|RI)AA won't be happy until they require people to have brain implants that don't let you even remember the movie or music...

Seems like a logical step to me. That way you keep paying for the same movie over and over lol. Another good idea is thought police on every corner. wink.gif

Right, for those who don't already have it, the final released version, 3.5.4.0, is now available for download at Rarewares. You'll find it at the foot of the 'Others' page. smile.gif

I really hope DVD Shrink won't do the same end...
~*McoreD*~
Really sad news. Why DVD Decrypter? It's really unfair.

@Oge_user, DVD Shrink dev is the same guy now working at Nero for Nero Recode. I don't see a bright future for DVD Shirnk either.

Doom9 it is convinced that behind all this there is Plextor

I think you're misreading Doom9's latest news post. It talks about two separate issues:

1. The PxScan/PxView issue, caused by Plextor.
2. The DVD Decrypter issue, caused by a more and more stringent application of the DMCA.

At least, that's how I interpret this news. I could be wrong, though.

Hohoho.

It would be so good if the developer released the sources. But I guess that would only make things worse for him.

I read somewhere that IF he cooperate engough, he MIGHT not get sued. If this is true, they found a good way to prevent him from sharing the sourcecode. Even if it would be legal to do so (freedom of speech) i doubt if he want to.

I get a bad feeling about this because they can threaten to sue anybody for anything, even if its unfounded, you still need a lawyer and you still need to go to court sad.gif.

But if it's unfounded, you'll win and the other side will pay your lawyer.

And DVDDecrypter DID circumvent copy protections...

Sad day.

But I am confident another program will show up.

It always happens.

There might come an alternave, but IMO this is not very likely since almost nothing looks even remotely as good as dvd-decrypter. You have to be a realy good programmer to achieve the level dvd-decrypter was on. Also it needs a lot of devotion to continue a project as long as dvd-dec. Many projects dont get above v.01b.

Maybe if someday dvd-decrypter fails bigtime, alternatives popup.

Finally, since I was "blessed" by an official information email that the company that shut down DVD Decrypter development demanded be sent, I can let the cat out of the bag: it's not the MPAA, it's not Sony as initially rumored. It's Macrovision - the company that has given the world video signal corruption since the 1980's. The email states that we're dealing with a case of copyright infringement, which I find hard to believe. (...)

The bad news is I lost all my programers which means unitl I find a new team I will only provide version 3.5.4.0 for download. If you have programming skills please e-mail me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!! I'm looking for a wide range of people including reverse engineer, C++, C+ or anyone who knows how to update and maintain software programs!! If you have these skills, Please contact me immediately at: lightninguk.dvddecrypter@gmail.com and please know you will work out of the kindness of your heart as I can not pay you unless someone wants me to add a "Donate NOW" link to the web page!

1. C+ is not a language. C, C++, C#, but not C+.
2. He clearly doesn't know how to write applications, "anyone who knows how to update and maintain software programs!!".
3. There was no development team, just LightingUK
4. He basically says, give me money.

Only if you have the capital to start with... the likelihood of a jury with good relevant technical knowlege is too slim to risk it for a lot of people.

Must be fake... why would LUK need a wide team of coders? (including people who can reverse engineer... HINT?) AFAIK DVD decrypter was his work alone. Also, LUK said any involvement in DVD decrypter from now on would get him in serious trouble.

QUOTE
So anyway, from this point forward, I"m no longer permitted to provide any sort of assistance with anything that helps people infringe the rights of "a certain company".That means, no more emails, no more forum posts, no PM"s, no nothing! END OF STORY.The domain name will be transferred over to the company by the end of the week (9th June, according to the undertakings I have to sign) so don"t email it thinking "Oh, I"ll just ask LIGHTNING UK! for support on this". You"ll not be getting the intended recipient and could be landing yourself in sh1t!

edit: added quote... people post to darn fast here rolleyes.gif

He-he...I didn't bother to visit the site coz I had guessed it'd be a fake. tongue.gif
But after reading your replies, I decided to visit and yes, the reverse engineer bit is giving everything off.
