This seems similar both in appearance and specifications to a Samsung unit I purchased a couple of months ago. Though not well documented, the Samsung can play WAV files in addition to the compressed formats. Can the iRiver do this as well ??

When you record from the built-in mic, are the recordings MP3, or WAV? If WAV, they ought to be playable.

all recordings are mp3... FM, voice, line-in... all mp3
