My girlfriend has had a radio show for about 5 months and she has been recording it onto tape. It kills me that I didnt get on top of recording it digitally as the station was the first radio station to broadcast on the web. They offer 4 formats!!
I am having a hard time finding a free app to schedule recordings.

Anyway, I am thinking about converting some/many of the tapes to a digital format (flac or ogg) and wanted to see what others who have done this think of the sound? Does it sound horrible? These shows were taped straight from the source in the radio station.

Hi

1.)
Try this application:
http://www.dago.pmp.com.pl/messer/

2.)
As this seems to be an important recording for you, I would it record into flac AND make some CDs of it, just to be shure. I would not bother with lossy for archive purposes

EDIT: had mixed up lossless - lossy - shame on me

You need the Net Transport.

http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/pa...Net%20Transport

Supports several formats/protocols.

Just to clarify, do you actually mean lossy there?

Are those cassettes normal consumer music casettes ?
It is difficult to decrease quality by converting to lossless digital format (e.g. flac), to say the least. Because quality of analog cassette recordings slowly degrade over time, you should do this soon.

Hi tgoose

You're right. I hat mixed up and have now corrected it.

I wanted to say: Do not bother with lossy, go for lossless archive purposes

Thanks for your hint anyway

Im glad to hear flacs a good route as most of my music is in flac.
Does Net Transport allow scheduled recording?
I am configuring Messer right now. Thanks!
