[13:53:14] <eLe> synth
[13:53:17] <eLe> Wanna see something cool
[13:53:44] <eLe> In your foobar2000, go to "Add location", and then enter "tone://5000,10"
[13:53:47] <eLe> Then playback the entry
[13:53:57] <eLe> Better turn up the volume so you hear good
I don't know if I should...what does this do?

This is the built-in tone generator.

5000 means 5 kHz, 10 means ten seconds. Feel free to try other frequencies.

Be warned, at 5000Hz it will produce a very loud, high pitched constant noise. DO NOT turn up the volume like suggested.

I turned my volume pretty low and tried it, based on what Zoch said.
Thanks.
You can also try something like
sweep://100-5000,20
(a sweep from 100Hz to 5000Hz which lasts for 20 seconds.)

I just found out that sweep://100-250,10 sounds spooky.

Is there anything else undocumented like this?
..And does anyone have a chart that maps notes to these kHz ranges? Thanks. :]

The A below middle C is 440Hz, so double that for every octave. If you search around the message board someone had an exact formula for every note.

Fuck, my ears

I wish my cat was still alive, it would enjoy this experimentation.
Edit: Fock, 15k. I actually have a headache now.
Strangely addictive though...Ima leave it on when I go out >.>
Edit 2: Okay, get unsuspecting person in the room, turn it up high and hide the volume control and play this to them sweep://10-15000,100
In the last 40 secs it really really hurts.
Oh my god it just made some radio noise shit :S

Not undocumented. Check out (in 0.8.3) Preferences|Playback|Input|Standard Inputs|Tone/Silence generator.

You mean this one?
(Original Frequency)*2^[(Number of Tones Above O.F.)/12] = (New Frequency)

Couldn't you make entire songs just by putting all the notes in a .fpl playlist? That'd make it easy for people to get..

Interesting. Could this be used with Diskwriter? I already spent $20 on a software that generates tones for the purpose of diagnosing old, busted Maggies.
yep, works fine converting to wav etc...
