Full Version: CD burning problem

Got an HP a750e with whatever brand of CD/DVD RW that they stick in there. Device manager shows "HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4083B."

Playing my burned CDs in CD players, sometimes a few seconds off the end of some tracks are cut off. This happens in my buddy's car CD player, and my computer with Winamp, but in Winamp it just skips once at the end. However, the same tracks will sound fine in my computer with Foobar and my other CD player.

As far as I know, this only happens when I burn from APS MP3s, and only affects some tracks, but the same ones each time if I were to burn another CD. Diskwriting with Winamp and Foobar, the WAVs look fine and sound fine.

I've tried two burning programs: Nero and Sonic RecordNow. I've tried two brands of CD-Rs. I've tried burning at 24x instead of 40x. I've tried praying. No luck.

Has anyone heard of this before, or know what's wrong? Thanks for reading.

I don't trust all-in-one programs that much.

To isolate the problem, I'd recommend that you try decoding the mp3's manually to wav, before using Nero.

Also, the media is unlikely to be the issue, so you can probably experiment with -RW's.

Whoops, I meant that I decode from Winamp and Foobar.

Either way, looks like I need to pick up some RWs. ;D

Just an addition, if you want to only test the deocder of nero. You can burn an image and mount them with Nero Image Drive.
