Fractal_Mortality
Hi all. I'm a long time winamp user that recently switched to foobar, and I must say that my experience has been impressing. Though it took me quite awhile to get a hang of things, I believe that the faq page visits and plugin downloads were well worth it!

However, there are two major things that still bother me about Foobar that I'm not entirely sure can be changed... But I'll give it a shot anyway.

First of all. In the winamp playlist window, It was a very handy thing to be able to click on an area of the screen and drag your mouse to make a selection (this behavior is also used in windows explorer and makes selecting various files and folders an easy task). I realize that the same can be done by using the shift key and arrows, but being able to use mouse dragging for selections still seems infinitely more speedy and intuitive to me... Is there a plugin, or some setting that will recreate this for me?

My second complaint is the highlight bar (not entirely sure what the correct term for this is... But I'm referring to the bar that appears when I select any song in the playlist that is not currently playing). Whenver I am playing music and put the highlight bar on another song, foobar immediately assumes that the highlighted song is the next one that I want to be played. This behavior tends to be very annoying, especially when I'm listening to an album on one end of the playlist but am making tag fixes and edits, or just simply checking out other parts of the playlist... Once the song in the album that I was playing is finished, foobar immediately goes to a song that I might've been fixing but didn't want to play at that time. Is there some setting that I'm missing here that I haven't looked into? (I'm using the columns gui, by the way.)

Once again I realize these problems are a bit nitpicky, but I would love if someone could clear up some ways that exist to get around them. If my explanations were a bit unclear, please let me know and I'll try harder to voice them in a more eloquent manner.

To solve this problem, all you have to do is click on the PLAYBACK menu, and uncheck Follow Cursor. ;-)

As for the other things, I'm not so sure. :-/

ah very good, thanks a lot for the quick response!

When you do a mouse drag selection, just don't start on a song that is already highlighted (which will move the selection). I *think* this is the default behaviour and there are no special options regarding this. (though I could be mistaken)

wow, I was the searching the trick to unable follow cursor for years.. thx a lot Fractal_Mortality and rapsodie;

And as Cosmo said, I think it is a default behavior to select the files by dragging from an unselected track, anyway, it is in the special installer by default

Excellent, thank you guys very much (I'm not entirely sure why I could'nt click and drag before, but it works now... weird).
