This problem has happened to me before, and as far as I can remember, the only way I could remedy it was by reinstalling foobar. Basically, for some reason (maybe I hit some key combination?) foobar just stops playing. If I try to play a song, nothing happens. The console shows nothing weird (or at least I think it's normal output). Anyone have an issue similar tothis?

Bump... this is still happening to me randomly during playback. I'm fairly certain it's not related to keystrokes. Is this a known issue for any plugin?

Are you using kernel streaming? Its possible your soundcard doesn't like KS.
