Sorry if this is totally basic, but there are a few Chinese songs that won't play in iTunes but will in WMP. iTunes essentially doesn't recognize them as MP3s, and ID3-TagIT also doesn't list anything in the "Version" column, which should say MPEG-1.0 Layer III.
Anyway, these files used to play fine but for some reason might have gotten corrupted. Any ideas on how to fix them? Obviously they're fine if they play in WMP, but iTunes must be more fickle.
A long time ago I had the same problem with a few tracks when switching over to iTunes. The tracks displayed and played fine in Winamp, but iTunes would not even recognize them. After editing the tags with several programs, I still had no luck. Finally, I gave up, used Tidymp3 to erase the tags, and re-labelled them from sratch. This worked. It's a decent solution for only a few tracks, but the better solution might be just to switch to foobar.

What PaUbu said. Convert them to WAV and rerip to MP3/AAC and you will be able to play in iTunes.

Have you tried playing these in foobar? If you can, you should be able to run the 'Fix MP3 Header' function which has fixed many of my dodgy mp3's.
I would definitely try this before transcoding mp3 -> mp3. Transcoding between lossy formats will most likely reduce the sound quality of your files significantly.

Wow, you guys rock! I just downloaded Foobar, poked around, found the Fix MP3 header, realized you had to do one file at a time, and it fixed it! Saved everything too, including tags and album art. I had tried fixing the MP3s using MP3 Tag Studio, but it wouldn't open up the files. Now they all play in iTunes.
Thanks again!

foobar doesn't save album art when updating tags; fixing a corrupt header is a different procedure entirely.

Ah, thanks. The album art was already there.
How do I fix corrupt headers? I can't see the option here (v0.8.3).

Are you selecting the files one at a time? also, try resetting your context menu in preferences if you still can't see the option.
