Hi dudes!
I have a Logitech Z-640 5.1 analog speaker system pluged in a SB Live 5.1, and since I got this set, I'm trying to configurate my system to have sound from all speakers even when listening to stereo tracks, like on home-theaters with Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro-Logic. What I want to do I think is called "upmix" (correct me if I'm wrong).
Well, the best I've got was with Valex's AC3 Filter, using the "Auto Matrix" option.
But I still wasn't fully satisfied. It's not as good as in home-theaters with Dolby Pro-Logic II, and so, the rear speakers mix the two channels, reproducing both the same thing, like there are just a single rear speaker behind me.
I've tried the SRS Circle Surround II plugin on WMP (don't blame me, it's my favourite player), but it's sound quality is very poor, and it mixes the rear channels too.
Well, some time later, I had to install a DVD decoder since WMP need a thirdy-part one, and then I read about CyberLink PowerDVD 6, and it made me very happy to know that it has Dolby Pro-Logic IIx. So I installed it, hoping it would become available no matter the player I'd use (like AC3 Filter does), and so I could, for example, listen to music and watch my stereo videos, getting sound from all speakers (and possibly decode pro-logic encoded tracks). But, unfortunately, DPLIIx works only on PowerDVD itself.
However, I tryed to find the DPLIIx files on PowerDVD directory for building an audio filter to install in the system and make it work in the system no matter the player I use, like with AC3 Filter. What I want to do is build a Dolby Pro-Logic IIx audio filter from PowerDVD audio filters. I used GraphEdit (that I actually don't understand very well) to find these files. I clicked the "Insert a filter into the graph" button, and under "DirectShow Filters", I found the "CyberLink Audio Effects (PDVD6)" audio filter. Then I rendered an mp3 file, and connected the "Cyberlink Audio Effects (PDVD6)" between the MP3 Decoder and the DC-DSP Filter, and it worked! The file identified in GraphEdit is "claudfx.ax", located in PowerDVD directory, in the "AudioFilter" folder.
This filter has the two audio effects of PowerDVD 6: CLMEI and DPLII. In the filter's properties, I found even more options that there is available in the PowerDVD. I then set the output to 6 channels, enabled DPLII, and voilá!
But I don't know what to do now! What can I do with the files in the "AudioFilter" folder to install it in the system, turning my PC into a Dolby Pro-Logic IIx enabled home-theater?
Thanks in advance!

P.S.: If someone who wants to help me don't have PowerDVD 6, ask me for it.

Hey there Danilo! A question, did you manage to make it work? Because I want the exact same thing as you do, a decent Dolby Pro-Logic II decoder.

I have even used Intervideo WinDVD (that also features a Dolby Pro-Logic IIx processor) for all my videos. But then I have my favourite player, Media Player Classic.

Well, I believe you can force MPC to use a certain filter, I just don't know if it is going to use the Pro-Logic processor filter correctly. I'll give it a try.

Tell me your experiences, OK? smile.gif

Rash, I don't know how to do it! I just want to make a Dolby Pro-Logic IIx decoder to install in my system and get full 5.1 from any audio source that the computer plays! I think it's possible to use the PLIIx filter from PowerDVD6, and I'm asking how to do it!
If it's not possible, I would like at least to use this filter with Windows Media Player, my favourite player, because I can't stand keep using PowerDVD6 as my music player.
I can't believe noone can help me with it! SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE! crying.gif
