Full Version: Sync Error

I have a disc that looks flawless but EAC gives me sync errors on three tracks.

Is this normal?
I have had the disc for many years but it is in great condition.

This seems to happen from time to time but usually at a trailing edge of the disc.

Can someone enlighten me about the possibilities for this error?

There are countless threads about this. You need information on two things:
  • How to recover (clear from scratches) such discs. Check this for example. For more search with keywords: "skip AND doctor" (this is because there is a tool called Skip Doctor that does it).
  • How to rip (after recovery) if sync errors still occur. Check one of these threads: thread 1, thread 2, thread 3, thread 4, thread 5.

I appreciate your response! And the Provided links were very educational.
I am going to try the brasso on a scatched CD I had given up on.
I believe my problem requires a better drive.
I really dont want to try and resurfice the disc in question because there are no physical scratches that can be seen on the CD and the CD does not skip when played.

Then just run EAC in burst mode. It'll most likely rip without errors. And try the deglitch.exe utility mentioned on these threads. If it can't find any glitches you're fine -- the cd is ripped alright. I also came across this thread if it's of any use.

I never tried burst mode because,
In another thread I started on Lead-in & Lead-out.
I was advised to make some changes to my EAC settings and when I did the sync errors stopped.
My offset values for the drive in question LTR 52327S Firmware QS5A
Read offset +6 Write Offset -6

Martin H.:
According to the EAC test you did, your drive can overread into lead-in only, so if you have a possitive offset correction value, then untick the overreading option in EAC, and make sure the 'Fill up missing offset samples with silence' option is ticked.

Thanks Martin H!
And many to you as well Atici!!!
