Really looking forward to the day when OptimFROG actually outperforms La on both ratio and speed.

Well, OptimFrog seriously outperforms LA on speed, and LA does not give that much better ratio. When you add the facts that LA are buggy, featureless and seemingly unmantained, OptimFrog won't be hard to choose for those situations when your looking for that maximum compression....

Tried the foobar and Winamp plugins. The foobar one seems to work well, but the Winamp one crashes both Winamp5 and 1by1. But as files that are compressed with the new encoder plays back well with the 1.07 Winamp2 plugin who works flawlessly with both players, it's not really a problem for me....

I'm on XPsp2. If you need specific info, please tell...

As the maintainer of LA, I'm unaware of any known bugs in the LA codec. So if you're aware of any, I'd prefer that you inform me of them than spout off about LA's bugginess in public forums. The only known problems are in the Foobar plugin, and these are not problems with LA inself, but rather that the plugin doesn't conform to how Foobar expects it to work. Unfortunately I found the support I received in the Foobar forums when working on the Foobar plugin wholly unconstructive, and thus have had little interest till now on fixing that plugin.

Regarding speed, it would be more accurate to say that OptimFrog contains compression modes which are faster any LA offers. However, at the higher levels of compression LA is actually faster then Optimfrog (at comparable levels of compression). Still, I'll be as interested as anyone to see if Florin can improve the compression in the next version as he predicts.

Yes... let's all release software that hasn't received any testing at all, has blatant bugs such as buffer overrun exploits and non-bit-exact output, then blame the community that hasn't reported them directly to you for their existence.

The basics of reader infrastructure and why it's generally(!) sensible to implement in any library dealing with files were explained to you. You promised to look into it and try to implement it, but after that nothing happened.

I didn't see you looking for help by asking specific questions on the forum either. Your questions about release schedules and maintenance effort were answered.

I really have to wonder what exactly you're complaining about.
