how does one play wavpack files on a ipod?

i think what you looking for is "itunes encode" by otto42. i dont know much about it; ive never used it, but there are threads on it here, here, and here. good luck.

ALAC is Apple Lossless compression. And you can encode it using iTunes easily enough. However, since iTunes can't read your WAVPack files directly, you can use foobar2000 and iTunesEncode as a CLI encoder. foobar will read the WAVPack files, pass them over to iTunesEncode, which will use iTunes to encode them however you like.
