Hi, i just wanted to request a feature in the fb2k 0.9 beta feature-request-thread.... so, i was going to check if it was proposed already..... and then noticed that the thread is 10pages long...... and it suddenly made *click*

If technically possible, it would be helpful if there would be a search-field integrated into the thread-view, which allows one to search the thread for certain keywords... the results-page would then list the posts of the thread which contain the given keywords.

Another random proposal: i think the global forum-pagehead is too clogged up with features. Sure, its a good idea to have the FAQ and forum search there, but overally, there are too many dropdown-menus, buttons and fields - which i think results in oversaturation of user-attention..... which as we know from the overcompression-effect results in "just filtering it out".

You can already do that, at the bottom of the page, just above the indication "x users are reading this topic"

Forgive my stupidity, but why not specify a high number of posts per page in the your settings and use ctrl-f, works ok for me?!

Since i was never an IPB-admin, i dont know about the technical limitations - so, i cannot know what can be modded with a reasonable amount of effort, and what cannot. That's why i did ask.

So, from your response, i asume that it would be technically too difficult.

@Redfox:
Thanks for pointing that out..... i never noticed that search-field. Probably because i didn't expect it at that location.

I personally think that this forums search function doesn't work very well...I hardly find the stuff I'm looking for. For instance, just the other day I tried to find the following thread: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....topic=35599&hl=

since I knew I posted in that thread I just searched by username. So I typed in my username and checked "Match Exact Name", I searched in all forums and didn't touch the other options.

You would expect that the thread would be on the first page, but nope...it wasn't on the second page either, not even on the third...I'm not sure where it is listed or if it is listed at all.

It doesn't make any sense, since my last post in that thread was today...just one example of many attempts getting this to work...

As already mentioned, it's a pain to get some topic listed that has 25 pages and the forum won't tell you on what page it is...so I thought, well let's choose "Show results as posts" but that's even more pathetic...I've no idea how the forum comes up with the results...they seem totally random...

The other Forums search function are way superior...
