What exactly is CDA? Is it a lossless codec? (That's assuming CDA files are compressed from wav, since 80 mins of cd quality wav can never fit onto a cd)

Nope, it's uncompressed linear PCM. And yes it does fit as audio CDs can hold about 800MB unlike data CDs at 700MB
Uncompressed 16 bit LPCM sampled at 44.1kHz and 2 channel to be technical

Some Windows versions show .cda files on an audio CD when you open it in explorer. These are not real files, just a pseudo interpretation. The data on the disc is CD digital audio format.
