What exactly is CDA?
Is it a lossless codec? (That's assuming CDA files are compressed from wav, since 80 mins of cd quality wav can never fit onto a cd)

Nope, it's uncompressed linear PCM. And yes it does fit as audio CDs can hold about 800MB unlike data CDs at 700MB

Some Windows versions show .cda files on an audio CD when you open it in explorer. These are not real files, just a pseudo interpretation. The data on the disc is CD digital audio format.
