Hi,
I bought my first MP3 player (Creative Zen Micro) over a week ago, after my portable cd player (PCDP) finally broke, but haven’t been able to used it due to the MP3’s poor audio quality ripped with Nero 6EE or Creative MediaSource in various formats and bits rate. All this talk about MP3 players sound like PCD players is bs.

I installed AEC + LAME as described in this nice Guide, and there was an audible improvement in the new ripped MP3’s sound; not as good as with the PCDP, but I started to enjoy my music again, thank you.

During the AEC installation I chose the recommended settings ( from Hydrogen Audio forum) instead of the LAME standard settings. The problem is I haven’t never used AEC+LAME or any other program of this kind before, and have no idea what these encoding settings mean or how to go about changing the encoding settings possibly to the highest quality , I’d rather have less songs but better quality.

The current settings are:
Additional command line option: %l--alt-preset 128%l%h--alt-preset standard%h %s %d
Bit rate: 192 kBit/s
High quality

Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated

Thanks for watching
Raja
If you're using LAME as the external encoder, you need to tell EAC to use a user-defined encoder. Specify the path to LAME, the extension to .mp3, and then input your command line parameters.

If you do this, the settings in the EAC dropdowns don't matter.

Yes, it is already specified in this way; the settings in the dropdowns you mean are the ones of the Bit rate field, I guess.

Is this a valid command line parameter?
%l--alt-preset 256%l%h--alt-preset extreme%h %s %d

If you can suggest a better one, or any other suggestions, different programs, are very welcome. Thank you cool.gif

If you think EAC is too complicated for you, then try CDex. I producies very good rips when it is for scratchless cds.

Take a look at the wiki.

Not only will it suggest command lines but it also explains what your current command is doing.
