These days I've encoded some mp3(320KB/s) to aac with iTunesEncode46.
After I finished encoding some mp3s,I found them incompatible with foobar to play.
But they can be played in itunes and Nero showtime!
What's the problem?
Can foobar played aac/mp4 encoded by iTunes?

That looks like a foobar question.

Foobar can play such files. Have you tried listening to them in itunes to make sure they're not corrupted?

Actually,I've said that my iTunes and Nero showtime can play these aac/mp4 while I can't play them in foobar(0.8.3).

Sorry, misread your initial question. What does foobar say when you attempt to play them?

foobar can't play aac files that i buy from itunes music store. maybe apple does something to the files so they can't be played on just any program?

although the music store files will have DRM but i doubt the itunes encoder would add a DRM when converting files.

Anyone encounted these things like me?

Either the file is an unwrapped AAC file, or an MP4 file renamed to AAC. First, try and rename the file to .mp4 or .m4a. If that doesn't work, you need to put the AAC file in the MP4 container. There is a program called "Ivan & Menno" which will do this, as well as a whole bunch of other apps.

Well I see 2 problems with that file.

For one, it looks like its actually an MP4 file not an AAC.

Second, it has an APEv2 tag.

One theory I have is that you set it to output .aac files and used itunesencode which i believe outputs MP4 files. Then foobar tried to update the tags on the .aac file under the assumption that it really was an aac file. Could you try encoding the file to .mp4 or .m4a file extension and see if that works?

I just renamed the file with mp4 extension,and it can be played in foobar.
Though I've made myself a problem,I still have the following questions:
1.Can iTunesEncode46 output a file with aac extension?or iTunesEncode46 can only output a mp4 file indeed?
2.Normally,which type of file do iTunesEncode46 always output?(generally mp4?)
3.If I made my mistake again,could ipod play this aac which is mp4 instead?
4.I care about if the encoded files are compatible with my ipod.I visited the offical site of apple and knew that ipod could support protected AAC(M4A、 M4B、M4P).But I don't know if the file with AAC(MP4) extension is supported.Any experienced person could talk about something about this compatibility problem?
5.When I use iTunesEncode46 to encode a MP4,the default bitrate is 128KB/s.
How can I improve the encoding bitrate?
I've found you can modify one parameter in import setting of iTunes(edit-preference-import-setting-custom-192KB/s).
Is this the right way to improve the encoding bitrate?
6.I wonder if the iTunes support VBR encoding in AAC format.Since I haven't found the related setting in iTunes,I want to know something about VBR encoding in AAC format.
