There are a lot of different names for this codec. Coding Technologies gave one, MPEG gave another one, 3GPP is referring to is as aacPlus without the v2. Some sites call this AAC++ or EAAC+ and foobar displays PS AAC.

This codec is amazing at low bitrates, ideal for internet radio through your cell phone or a modem diap up connection. But... What name do you prefer when referring to this codec?

aacPlus v2 is the latest and greatest. Looking forward to the majority of radio stations using this some day (it's getting closer!).

aac = HE, HE+PNS, or LC most commonly.
aacPlus v1 = HE+SBR
aacPlus v2 = HE+SBR+PS

I think that correct. Yeah, it's all kinda confusing, ain't it. blink.gif

aacPlus is ™ by Coding Technologies and thus shouldn't be used when not talking about their products.
