A question related to this part of the replaygain wiki:

QUOTE
foobar2000 replaygain scanner

Foobar2000 (http://foobar2000.org)

Format:

    * MP3: Values written to APEv2 or ID3v2 tags.
    * MPC: Values written to header as decribed under "replaygain".
    * Ogg Vorbis: In Vorbis comment.
    * AAC: Values written to APEv2 tags.
    * MP4: Uses its own itunes-compatible tagging system (though itunes does not support replaygain).
    * FLAC: In Vorbis comment.
    * APE: Values written to APEv2 tags.
    * WAV: Optionally saved into APEv2 tags; otherwise the foobar2000 database is used.
    * Modules (MOD etc.): Optionally saved into APEv2 tags; otherwise the foobar2000 database is used.

You can also choose to only have the replaygain values saved in the foobar2000 database and leave the files untouched.

All other formats are supported but the replaygain values are saved to the foobar2000 database.

Specifically , *how* do I tell F2K to store replaygain values of FLAC files only in the database, rather than touching the files themselves?

nevermind, found it in another thread -- check 'block tag update' in database means that RPG (replaygain) info is only stored in the database. This would prevent me from editing tags, though, too, wouldn't it?

I'm only asking all this because I want to keep file sizes to a minimum...I'm reaching the limit of my hard drive.
I've got >10,000 files to replagain scan and wouldn't want it to halt due to lack of space. Or is the addition of RPG info to a file so miniscule data-wise, that it's not really an issue?

Is there any option to store RPG info in the database only, but *still* allow tag editing? other than repeatedly activating and deactivating 'block tag update' I mean.

You can only globally disable tag writing in foobar2000. There is no option to disable it only for some file types or only for certain information (for example replaygain data).
