Full Version: Added gaps after MP3 encoding

Hi everybody!

I have bought an Audio CD and decided to rip it into MP3. Since it is a live concert (Clannad "Live in Concert") there are no gaps between the tracks so the transition between them is smooth and when you listen to the tracks in the right order it sounds like one track.

That's why I decided to rip the album into one solid WAV and use CUE sheet to split it into tracks using EAC. For some reason short gaps were added in the beginning and in the end of each file after they were compressed into MP3. Split WAV files look OK.

I even tried to encode the whole file into MP3 and split it using mp3 DirectCut (it doesn't reencode the file). But it turned out that it adds quirky noise in the beginning of each file.

The question is: how can I eliminate gaps in the MP3 files?

Encode the CD to MP3 by using LAME and use foobar2000 or XMPlay to play the files.

btw: gapless mp3 is a hack and isn't supported by the original MP3 specification. You need encoders like LAME and smart players for this.
