1. Firstly, I regularly do reinstalls and change hard drives etc. When I install XP again how can I ensure that I don't have to through the entire process of tweaking, skinning, making playlists and aquiring components etc.? IS there a way of saving my configs etc? what folders do i need to keep?

2. (I'll think of these as they come to me - no particular order).
Some of the .fcs files i've imported seem to lock the movement of the playlist colums, others don't. How can I unlock them?

3. Playlists?!! Gah this thing just confuses me. Every time I click on one of my playlists, we'll say 'New Music' it puts that into the current playlist. BUT if I play something else from the Album list panel it justs pastes it right over my playlist losing all the work i've put into selectin each song separately. Is there any way to lock the playlists so that new entries won't accidently lose the songs?

4. When I import a skin it doesn't seem to change the function buttons (play, stop etc). I just get the generic ones. Is there any way to allow the fcs file to change them?

that's all i can think of right now, there'll be more.

thanks in advance.

1. If you only keep one config file (not on a per-user basis), you can copy the whole /foobar2000/ directory around.

4. AFAIK, an *.fcs can't change the function buttons.

is there a control to changing the column widths?

Are the keyboard shortcuts saved when you back up your config?
hunted
Keyboard shortcuts are stored in the config file, so if you back that up, your keyboard shortcuts are saved.

You cant lock playlists in 0.8.3. You can make album list panel add only to a specific playlist, so it doesn't over write the current one. (Auto send to playlist text box in config)

I'm not sure what you mean by movement, if you mean column size, like resizing then,
a .fcs is a file with configurations from columns, including the stuff in the columns tab. So it includes the column width, the column resize values (etc ...) and it might save auto-resizing columns mode (on Playlist View tab)

if you mean moving the headers, make sure you have headers enabled (Playlist view tab)

check out those options to change the size of columns
