Hello all. I've been looking for the latest versions of ReplayGain and Tag. I've seen various different repositories with various compiles. Where are the "official" sites for these two apps?

Also, reading the descriptions of the switches for LAME version 3.97a11 and reading the commentary on this site, I believe I am going to use :

lame.exe -V0 -q2 --vbr-new --noreplaygain

Admittedly, I don't know much about ReplayGain yet, but reading the description of LAME switches, it says --replaygain-fast is enabled by default.

Is this replaygain being done by LAME encoder itself or does it rely on having ReplayGain.exe in the same directory?

I think that we can consider the official download site RareWares so the latest version of Tag you can find here.
I think that ReplayGain is just a algorithm for counting the loudness of an audio file.
It's incorporated to various software applications and you can't find it's latest version IMO.
You can read more about ReplayGain here or you can use RG program WaveGain for adjusting your wave files or MP3Gain for adjusting your MP3 files. smile.gif

One of those may well be my site (see sig below). I have made a couple of changes to Tag, and also updated the FLAC, OGG and VORBIS libraries it uses. Case, who wrote Tag, no longer develops it - I don't think it's even hosted on his site now by the looks of it. Rarewares hosts Case's last compile. If you don't need to set tag values from a text file, or need the latest FLAC and OGG libraries, then go with v2.0.39 on Rarewares.

I'd be very interested to know of other released versions of Tag, as I would like to ensure that the version numbers I've used are unique to my releases. I don't suppose you can provide URLS?

LAME itself. As k.eight.a says, ReplayGain is more of a concept than an application.

I was googling. I never show a number higher than the one on RareWares, but I also saw a post by you were you had made enhancements. Just because I didn't find a version number higher than on RW, didn't mean there weren't, so I just asked HA.

Well I was curious because, while I have no idea where I got it, I have an exe titled Replaygain.exe on my machine and it appears to be for Replaygain'ing mpc files. It's version 0.84 © 2001-2002 Klemm/Robinson/Sawyer, btw.

I was just trying to make sure I knew where I stood on things. So mp3gain eh? I'll look for it.

oh btw, thanks

Yes, the MPC replaygain app is actually called replaygain.exe.

Other apps that use the ReplayGain algo include MP3Gain, WaveGain, METAFLAC, FLAC, LAME, and foobar.
