Im looking at getting one of these for a HTPC:

Anyone used one of these cards? Anything positve or negative to say about it?

The card appears to have a cmedia chip on it, I have had an older cmedia soundcard that would output 44.1kHz nativly but it wasnt bit for bit - this was before I found the miricle of kernel streaming in foobar2000 however, I believe there may also be asio support now but am not 100% sure.

I want to play some images I have of DTS CD's on the media PC, and CD rips as well as using it for divx/xvid playback - higher sample rates are not important as I have no material in them and am unlikly to in the foreseable future.

The dolby encoder is the main thing I am interested in since it will let me get 5 channel gaming into my HT reciever which sofar only the old nforce2 has let me do, but that chipset was a disaster so I dont want to go back there.

Another thing that I am concerned about, is the bass management. A previous sound card I used insisted on putting a copy of all the bass in the mains into the LFE channel. This ment that I had to turn the sub off when listening to music or it would be playing the bass too making it sound crap. Seemed to me that they didnt know the difference between a LFE channel and a subwoofer channel in a crappy sub+sat speaker set.

Any soundcard I get _must not_ try to make an LFE channel out of the other 5 channels, unless its in the source material.
