I want to start encoding some AAC's with iTunes because i'm really interested in its quality, but i currently have Quicktime version 7.02b20. Is the AAC encoder from the test version of Quicktime that i am running different from the current stable QT that comes with iTunes?

thanks in advance.

I used iTunes based on QuickTime 7.02 for my latest listening tests. The encodings were different from iTunes encodings based on QT 6.52.
So yes, it is different.

P.S. At least on Windows.

hmm. but i guess i would be safe with either one right?, or does a specific version have some advantage?

EDIT:

After reading the listening test i think its safe to assume that the QT AAC encoder has been improved in the latest releases, but scince its still in beta state i think i should wait until its deffinitive Final release to see what happens.

I'm pretty sure the Windows preview uses the same encoder as QT7 final on OSX, so it should be safe to use.
