Hello!

I have encountered a cosmetic issue with foobar2000 0.9 Beta 6. Some files which were encoded with the FhG encoder are reported as being MP2. Additionally, foobar2000 reports some frames with 164 kbps at the beginning of the playback.

Here is a screenshot demonstrating the problem: http://www.transilvania2000.de/www.mareswe.../fb2k%20Bug.jpg

You can see that most programs (including Winamp, EncSpot, and my early VBSpot) report the file as MP3 with 160 kbps, while foobar2000 reports it as MP2. If you look at the fb2k status bar you will also see that 164 kbps problem.

I tried extracting the first ~150 KB of the file and opening it with foobar2000, but that splitted part is recognized as MP3 correctly. If interested, I could still upload that sample.

Regards,
Sebastian

PS: Playback is fine, that's why I said that it's a cosmetic issue.

Wrong layer reporting - known/fixed.
Different first frame bitrate is not a bug, bitrate is calculated per decoded time (excluding gapless playback padding/delay) not per physical frame time.

A way to stop the bitrate jumping is to set the VBR bitrate updates per second to 0.

Sorry for bugging you with this, but is the bug supposed to be fixed in beta 8?

Nevermind, reloading the information from the files fixed the problem.
