My current host does not allow SSH or Telnet access. Is there any other way to install LAME on the server?

Thank you.

Maybe upload a static binary through FTP?

Hey, thats an awesome idea!
1: Rent a dedicated server, for your personal average super-high traffic site needs.
2: At night, when site traffic is low, use the dual xeon for LAME!
3: ???
4: PROFIT!

Anyways, as is already said, you can upload the file through FTP. The only way I could imagine you'd use the binary afterwards, would be through a server-side script, which would execute it.

Or you can buy a decent system for yourself, and encode locally faster than you can upload the WAV files to the server. Or faster than you can encode them to FLAC or some other lossless format, upload, then encode to MP3 on the fly. Some people were not meant to think for themselves.

One could also make a server-side script to provide on-demand encoding of a file, with a series of presets, if one has the need for that.
