Just wanted to let everyone know that my webzine Corridor of Cells:
http://www.corridorofcells.com/

has added a download section with previews of some of the albums we review and for the most part we are trying to be exclusively Ogg (although some MP3 might creep in if a record label insists we use their files instead of ripping our own).

We added a nice link to the Vorbis FAQ so newbies will know what to do with .ogg files.

Cool! Spread the word!

Went there - very heavy metal.

Ogg files seem to be in the q5 range (peaks of around 200 kbs).

-q 3.5 using CDEx (which makes ripping to Ogg using libvorbis so easy it's nearly criminal)

EAC + Oggenc is not complicated either
Zaraza
True...but I'm warming up to CDEx recently and it tags the Ogg file automatically as well, while in EAC it would require cmd-line parameters...

Either way, both are great.

I was actually surprised that most of the labels I contacted (so far) have no problems with me re-ripping it a track and converting it to Ogg, even if they already offer an MP3 version of it (as long as I stick to the same songs they have made available for download, they're happy).

if you use the ogg vorbis scheme tags would be added aswell. But true, tagging via cmd-line is the way i do it, but for newbies or beginners it wouldn't be easy at all!

Personally I like to keep my music "inside" the xiph.org environment smile.gif
