Hi, I'm fairly new to using EAC. I like what I've heard and seen so far, but ...

Some of the settings in the EAC drop downs are over riding the settings I set with switches ... how do I stop this? I want to set everything using the command-line switches I type in manually. (yes, I have it set to use external encoder). I just noticed that when I specified the "--preset fast standard" setting on the commandline, LAME encoded with a 160 kbps min (normally a 128kbps min isn't it?) later I saw that the drop down was set at 160kbps, so I figured that was why.

How have you verified that it has a 160 min?

When you have 'Parameter Passing Scheme' set to 'LAME MP3 Encoder', then '--alt-preset standard' overrides the bitrate dropdown box, except if 320 is selected, then the output will be cbr 320 kbps MP3's. When using '--alt-preset xxx', then whatever is selected in the bitrate dropdown box will be used as minimum bitrate. To be sure that the bitrate dropdown box will not interfere with your commandline, then set 'Parameter Passing Scheme' to 'User Defined Encoder'.

set 'Parameter Passing Scheme' to 'User Defined Encoder'.

I'll try that, Thanks.

Also, will the "-F" switch stop it from dropping down to 32 kbps during silences?

Why would you want to encode silence with more than 32kbps?
