Hi,

I am trying to implement the MPEG-2 layer-3 multichannel decoder, backward compatible with MPEG-1 layer-3.
I am new to this work and I don’t have any source code to implement this decoder, but I got spec 13818-3.
Actually I am trying to build this multichannel decoder around the MPEG-1 layer-3 and its low sampling frequency (lsf) stereo decoders like MPEG2, MPEG2.5.
Main aim of this decoder is to support normal MP3 stereo decoding as well as multichannel extension.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thanks,

Do you mean the multichannel extension of mpeg2?
I'd love to see such a decoder, but I have a question: how will you test it?
Right now, I only know 1 single layer III file featuring this.

(but test files could probably be created by a multiplexer using several stereo bitstreams as input)

Hi Gabriel,

1. Do you mean the multichannel extension of mpeg2?

yes and it should be backward compatible with MPEG 1/2 layer 1/2/3 strereo deocder.

2. I'd love to see such a decoder, but I have a question: how will you test it?

I don't have any ref code for MPEG2 layer3 standard, but I have MPEG 2 layer 1/2 multichannel & multilingual extension ref code and thing is it is not working.

3. Right now, I only know 1 single layer III file featuring this.

Ok, If you having any test vectors related to Multichannel & multilingual can you send to me or give the link i'll try to download.
I have few ISO?philips standard test vectors for MPEG2 layer 1/2. but thing my decoder is not working so I am not able to test these vectors.
If there's any other software for multichannel MPEG 2 layer 1/2/3, which is in working status, plz let me know.

Thanks,
Ravichandra
