Got my hands on the old Point of Sale machine used at one of our Subway stores.
'Tis only a P233, but with a nice big hard drive and a soundcard, it'll make a really nice jukebox machine for taking to parties.
The problem, however, is finding some decent software to use for this.
I've tried PartyTime Jukebox and a couple of others, but they're too buggy, or too hard to configure (I don't have album art in each folder so PartyTime shits itself).
What I'm after is something that will basically allow people to search the music library (either by a string or by the first letter of artist/album, but they'll need the A, B, C etc buttons to do this), and add them to the playlist.
- An admin function to allow me to edit the playlist if need be
- after a few seconds, drop to either vis or if the item selected is a video clip, the video.
I was thinking it'd be possible with foobar, but the config is waaaay beyond my noobie skills.
