Full Version: EAC CD Load times

I have been forced to use my girlfriends Toshiba laptop to run EAC and I am experiencing long load times on CDs in EAC. Once I put the CD in it takes about 1-2 minutes for EAC to allow ripping to start. It is detected instantly as I get a hourglass but it takes awhile before I can enter in Title and Artist.

What settings would have an effect on this? My first thought is gap detection so I have started experimenting with different settings.

Its a 1.8ghz Pentium M w/ 256 RAM so it should have plenty of power.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as time is of the utmost importance when burning from this laptop.

See if after inserting you can access the disk faster in explorer (while EAC is closed), if not then it means that it takes so much time to detect the (kind of) disk - either drive or the disks are not in the best condition.

Plenty of power? I doubt it.

I had roughly the same setup (till my internal drive, TEAC, died, so I"m using external. Toshiba 2.0M, BUT I have 1GB RAM rather than 256M. It came with 512M but I've put more memory in it. Under normal usage, I've observed it hits over 300MB or so. So the memory shortage may be one of the reasons. Check the memory utilization. Consider getting another 256MB memory stick. They are cheap.

Oh yes, I never had this EAC symptom you've described. That is, never hourglass while operating it.
