While looking for some information about Plextor and DVD-RAM, I came across a post on cdfreaks.com where someone mentions the Plextor PX-605A which is able to read and write DVD-RAM media at 5x. Now I am wondering if Plextor uses an LG drive or if they worked out the DVD-RAM stuff themselves. Anyone has information about this?

After a bit more reasearch it seems that the drive is based on a Panasonic unit. It supports DVD±RW (no DL support), CD-RW and DVD-RAM writing. However, the quality isn't that great according to some users and the writing speed on CDs is not spectacular with 24x for CD-R and 16x for CD-RW.
