Hi!

Is there any way to merge a couple of mp3-s into a single one and generate a cue file automatically? I have bunch of albums, that I would like to convert this way, but creating cue-s manually is so tedious...
Is there any program floating around that does the job well?
THNX 4 the help!

Use foobar 0.9 beta (beta 6 onward I think), 0.8.3 with my adapted Diskwriter component, or 0.8.3 to do the merge and then foo_cuesheetcreator to create the cuesheet.

However, merging the files in foobar will mean re-encoding and therefore quality will be lost.

I can't think at the moment what tools there are to join MP3s without re-encoding. My brain is fried - there must be some...

It would be best to drag the files into a new playlist in foobar 0.8.3, use foo_cuesheetcreator to create the cuesheet, and then join them without re-encoding using another tool.

I'm not overly sure why you'd bother joining them though...

Edit: searched and found these two (one) (two) threads. Neither seems overly convincing though.

Edit #2: Two more (three) (four)

It is covered in the links by Synthetic Soul, but anyway:

Merge mp3s without reencoding with http://mp3merger.cjb.net/ It can also create CUE files in the process. If you should experience "pops" between the songs (normally won't happen when there is silence), you can manually directly edit the mp3 files with mp3directcut - http://www.mpesch3.de This app should be able to read the CUE file you created with mp3merge.

Cutting before joining is a bad idea. You'll screw up the bitreservoir and get glitches.

mp3merge: If I don't delete the ape tags before, I get a broken merge file. If I remove tags with foobar by "remove tags from files", I get a correct file, but unfortunately there's a tiny, but harsh break at any prior track change.

@SebastianG: He probably means "after joining". You can open the cue in mp3directcut and see the 1 (sometimes 2) frame gaps.

I have to sort out, if I can delete them with mp3directcut...

But a lot of work then... crying.gif
