Why is it that I can use any no-name drive and DVD Decrypter to get bit-for-bit perfect DVD ISOs while I need to have a good CD drive and a properly configured EAC setup to get a perfect CD rip?

Because CD uses three different error correction mode two of which are used for audio and all three for data. That's why you can use any no-name drive to transfer files and install software. DVD only has data mode.
