Full Version: fb2k v.0.9 beta 8 won't play a certain MP3

Just a bug I noticed. Just installed the beta 8, before that uninstalled the beta 7. My audio directory has a certain MP3 that this beta 8 won't play though it _looks_ like it's playing but I get no sound. At least 0.83 played it fine. Using the beta 8, for example LAME -APS files play just fine.

Encspot shows the file's properties as

Make sure that this file doesn't have ReplayGain info that silences it.

Removing Replaygain settings from it cured the problem. How the heck does one file suddenly have a silencing Replaygain setting as all the others seem to be fine? I admit that particular file wasn't encoded by me but as I mentioned 0.83 had no trouble playing it.

Anyhow, thanks for the help.

If you have the option "prevent clipping according to peak" enabled in your replaygain settings, then this problem can often occur with mp3's which have corrupted frames (corruption from downloading etc.). Replaygain sees the corruption as a volume spike in the song and scales everything down accordingly.
