I followed this guide, for setting up EAC for Monkey's Audio and FLAC, i got Monkey's working, but when i use FLAC my CD images get named xxx.flac.flac. I tried leaving the extension box in EAC blank, but that just makes the output file keep its temp name.

Why is this?

EDIT: This is probably very obvious to an avid Lossless user, but this is my first experience creating lossless images, i still don't know how to embed a cuesheet.

It seems to be a bug in EAC related to extensions that don't have exactly 3 letters. The same thing happens with WavPack which has the wv extension.

I'm not sure if this always works, but you might try .fla for flac instead. I think that works with most applications (I don't use FLAC myself too often).

I can fix it by just deleting one of the".flac"s, but it gets boring fast. Also, i'm still not convinced of sticking with FLAC or Monkey's Audio.

I've used EAC with FLAC for to rip >300 CDs, and I've never had this problem.

But are you ripping CD images or as seperate tracks? The issue is when ripping to a single file/cue sheet.

I have the same problem ripping to .flac.
It's been bugging me for a long time, and I've gone through all of my settings atleast a hundred times.

It's not that I really mind renaming them, its just that I'm a neatfreak when it comes to handling my audio.

I believe the problem lies with EAC. It doesn't seem to like 4 character extentsions as in ".flac" You'll notice that if you image to Monkey's Audio ".ape" (3 character extentsion) that you will not run into this problem. If you go to Neil Popham's site at Neil's CD Backup site you will find two EAC batch files that will cure your ill. I hope this solves your problem!

edit: The 2 files for FLAC are: "EAC-ENC-FLAC.BAT" & "EAC-POST-FLAC.BAT"

There are a few more options:


1. Do a search here for flacflacfixer. Somebody created a tool a while back that will take a directory and fix the files it finds with the .flac double extension

2. Use Wack or Flacattack (http://www.uninformative.com). This might be a little overboard for your problem, but both will make it so you don't have to rename your files as a separate process. It will all happen when you rip and encode.

I rip to flac with EAC and I don't have that problem. This is the first I'ev heard about it.
I suggest making sure you have none of the ID3 tag options enabled. My setup looks like this:

I am pretty sure it is a bug, but it is also affect by an option somewhere. I run Flac 1.1.2 on WinXP SP2. It's EAC v0.95 beta 3. Although I've never had that issue.

I've seen this naming problem brought up by a few people there at the EAC Forum, but could not find where Andre has addressed the issue. Let's hope he fixes this problem in some future release.

Do you rip as an image or separate tracks? This only happens when ripping an image (read up).

Confirmed with 0.95b3. I wasn't sure which version you were using skelly831.

Hey your right. I don't remember it doing that before when doing cd images. Bug is still there in Beta 3 also. I know a Test & Copy function is planned for the next release. I suggest checking the forums on the EAC site and posting about the bug. Would probably be really easy to fix.
