I've got a Flac file with an external cuesheet. When I open the cuesheet and look at the files info there's a tag called "CUESHEET" which I can't remove or alter in any way.

The initial cuesheet for the Flac file is nice and clean:
CODE
PERFORMER "Fear Factory"
TITLE "Digimortal"
FILE "CDImage.flac" WAVE
 TRACK 01 AUDIO
   TITLE "What Will Become"
   INDEX 01 00:00:00
 TRACK 02 AUDIO
   TITLE "Damaged"
   INDEX 01 03:23:62
 TRACK 03 AUDIO
   TITLE "Digimortal"
   INDEX 01 06:26:17
 TRACK 04 AUDIO
   TITLE "No One"
   INDEX 01 09:28:65
 TRACK 05 AUDIO
   TITLE "Linchpin"

   INDEX 01 13:05:62
 TRACK 06 AUDIO
   TITLE "Invisible Wounds (Dark Bodies)"
   INDEX 01 16:30:62
 TRACK 07 AUDIO
   TITLE "Acres Of Skin"
   INDEX 01 20:25:35
 TRACK 08 AUDIO

The CUESHEET tag contains a different cuesheet again with identical track times:

I haven't been using lossless audio formats a lot yet, the same goes for cuesheets. Can someone explain a bit about the internal cuesheet? I can't just open the Flac file itself, I need to use the external cuesheet, so what's the point in having both?
Why am I not able to remove or alter the internal cuesheet? Is this normal or a foobar bug?

Try right clicking on one track in the album, and go to Utils->Edit Cue sheet->Enable embedded cue sheet on this file

Ah, so that's how it works, thank you!

...This makes me wonder, should the internal cuesheet be displayed as a tag when I load the external cuesheet? If you can't do anything with the cuesheet as a tag there's no real point in listing it. It would be better if the files get a different marking of some sort indicating that an internal cuesheet is available.
Is the internal cuesheet stored in the flac file as an actual tag? If yes, why doesn't it show up as a tag when I look at the file info of the flac tracks if I don't load the external cuesheet?

The internal cue sheet is automatically hidden when viewing one of the tracks directly. You tricked this mechanism by using the external cuesheet. ph34r.gif
