I have several large mp3 files containing voice only - lectures, speeches, recitations etc..

I want to split these mp3s into approximately 5 minute files. I would be doing this often so I want to automate the process. It would also be nice if the splits did not happen in the middle of a word. I have Adobe Auditon and I played around with the auto-cue feature in it, but couldn't get it to work without manually editing the cue positions and merging. Can anyone help me with this? Or is there any other software (preferably free smile.gif ) more suited for this task?

The reason I want to do this is that my crappy car mp3 player can't fast-forward within a file so everytime I turn it off, it starts all over again next time sad.gif With 5 minute files I won't have to re-listen too much.

thanks for any help people!

Mp3Splt (the commandline version) has got silence detection (not sure if it will work as you require for speech though) and time split mode.
