As the topic states, it seems that foobar2k is not applying the gain settings from the dynamic metadata; that is, when the stream is first started, the replaygain values from the first metadata retrieval are used, but never change with a new song. This has been confirmed with FB2k 0.8.3 and 0.9b8.
Stream is in Ogg Vorbis format, my own icecast server. The dynamic replaygain adjustment works in Beep Media Player on Linux, so I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the stream.

The playback engine does not use dynamic metadata.

I thought that's what the 'radio' gain was most useful for :-/
Anyway I thought I'd expand on the problem and note that 0.8.3 does not even use the replaygain from the first retreival of metadata; 0.9b8 does.
I've changed that for next beta (was actually trivial to hack in after all).

Thanks much! I'll be linking to foobar2k as the preferred (Windows) player for my stream now
