I have a simple question.

How can I sort incoming ("enque in foobar" in explorer context menu) files by album? I find a field in the preferences: Core/Adding files/sort incoming files; the value is "$num(%_subsong%,9)"

There is no help for this, so I do not know the syntax.

Try "%album%" without the quotes. Also be sure to check out the useful 'titleformat_help.html' in your fb2k directory to familiarize yourself with fb2k's Tagz title formatting.

"%album%" does not work
I tried "%album% %tracknumber%".

It works but not 100%. The tracksnumbers are sorted like this
1, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 2, 20, 21, 3,

Understand?

I want the same functionality if a use playlist/sort/sort by album.

It was not in the titleformating-help. The foobar-help system IS foobar! It sucks.

Well, if you look closer, it does mention $num(%tracknumber%,2).
