Hey all. After doing some searching, I was able to get EAC running with iTunes to get my collection over to AAC. Big ups to Otto for the program and advice.

My problem is that I can't seem to get my bit rate to 192kbits/s. It's only giving me songs at 128kbits/s.

This is the thread I referenced in order to configure everything. (I just cut and pasted the code into additional command line options)

I picked 192 from the bit rate drop menu in compression options.

I'm using Itunes 4.8 and EAC 0.9 beta 4.

One more concern. Otto states in the thread above to "-Check for external programs return code is ON" in compression options. I don't see this option in EAC.

Sorry, I'm a complete novice at this stuff.

Thanks guys!! btw, great forum!!

iTunesEncode can't set the bitrate because Apple didn't expose that functionality through the COM interface. So you have to open iTunes and set your bitrate there, under the Importing preferences. What bitrate you pick in EAC will have no effect at all.

That's a relatively new option in EAC. The current version is 0.95 beta 3.

Do I have to update? Will not having this option to check/uncheck adversely effect my rips?
Thanks!

Won't affect the quality of your rips, but it might come in handy in some situations where the command line encoder returns an error message. As I understand it, checking for the return code allows EAC to realize something's gone wrong with the encode.

BTW, it's worth holding onto 0.9 b4 because it has the "Detect TOC manually" option that Andre removed from newer versions of EAC. That option can be used to rip copy-protected discs that hide the TOC.

Yeah, and with iTunesEncode, there's a lot of those situations. iTunes isn't the best designed program in the world. smile.gif

For the most part, if you don't mess around in the iTunes window while iTunes is encoding, things work without fail. The general idea is to just leave iTunes alone and let it work.
