Win2k Pro SP3, Nero 5.5.9.9

I made a Data CD compilation(no multisession), compilation size is 702 MB.
I inserted a blank 80mins CD-R with data capacity = 703 MB, burned fine until the end when Nero says Burning process failed : Error writing lead-out. This happens with any 80mins CD-R and at any writing speed. The funny thing is once I reduced my compilation size to about 700 MB, no error happens. Why? huh.gif

I checked my CD-R capacity using CDSpeed 1.0 - it's 703MB. So why does it give a lead-out error when my compilation size is 702MB ?(after all it's still lower than 703 MB capacity limit)

This is only a guess 'cause I don't know how it works technically.

My theory:
The 703 size CDSpeed reports are for the whole cd.... The lead-out also takes some space and the lead-out + data apperently have been over 703 mb.

Thanks, that's exactly what I had suspected. So is there any way to roughly estimate how much space is needed for lead-out data?

maybe check the lead-in and lead-out info here: http://www.maneurope.com/doc06.htm

Don't know wether or not CDSpeed acounts for this though.

I OVERBURN to avoid those errors, just a tip if your recorder supports it...
Jan S.
650+ is already overburning AFAIK.
