Full Version: Copying audio cd via image file

Today, a friend of mine copied an Audio cd for me, but he did it in Nero by making an image of the cd and burning that. I think I read before that there are a couple of error correction methods for data extraction, which makes it more secure than audio, with the exception of EAC secure mode.

Is the method used above considered data extraction or audio extraction? And do you think my copy would be 1:1?

I found this, http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....topic=31748&hl= which seems to say what I have should be the same, apart from the drive offset. But... I got the Accurate rip plugin for EAC, ripped it and got different CRC values for all but the first track.

Could it be that because I'm in Australia, they might have the CRCs from American pressings on their database, hence a partial match? Or is it more likely that the partial match means the first track is just lucky to be 1:1, and the rest have errors?

My impression is that it's not an offset problem, because if one track matches, the rest should too.

This is an audio extraction (unsecure).

Your copy is probably error free. But we can't be 100% sure.

Your copy is offsetted from the original. That's why CRC don't match. The first one might match if it is the only one with silence at both ends and CRC are computed without using null samples.

It is also possible that there are errors in all but the first.

ok then, thanks for the info.

I'll live in hope... :/
