Is there any aac encoder that can be used with eac? I just played around with neros aac 128 cbr and compared it with 128 lame 3.97 cbr and Oh My God!!! AAC RULES! What should I be listening for when detecting sound quality problems with aac cause with these 128 files for 3 types of music that i encoded, AAC is waaaay more superior. Even the tonal balance dries up with the mp3 and the aac(128) is close to the cd blink.gif

I posted a thread a few days ago on preset fast standard vs cd and posted the wav sample in the uploads section finding out that the mp3 was inferior to the original wav. even 320 was inferior but with this aac... what the hell??? This is great! Pls tell me what artifacts i should be listening for here cause this 128 aac is sounding better than a lame 320. Maybe I love the aac distortion, whatever it is... Ill do some more listening

Watch out for the Placebo Monster.

That being said, there are several commandline frontends for Nero AAC, use the search function to locate those threads.

There's several command line frontends for Nero's AAC that work with EAC, like Garf stated.

There's also iTunesEncode, a commandline frontend for iTunes and it's AAC encoder. You can use this with EAC as well.

Most of these frontends can be found on rarewares.

Oh Garf,
I double checked my findings by ripping to wav with eac then encoding to apfs mp3 and nero aac 128 and 192 cbr for cross reference. I did a foobar abx and found differences for all combos finding 192 and 128 aac more similar to each other and better than the mp3 in the cymbal hits. The lame mp3 did have a more similar sound signature to the wav file throughout the whole song though. It just doesn't seem as dynamic when fast transients are present compared to the original and the aacs. Wow 128 aacs actually satisfy me well enough for the songs i have tried so far.
