Is there anything available to test a Dolby 5.1 setup, positioning of the speakers, etc?
I'm completely not familiar with Dolby 5.1 but a friend of mine is trying to get the best out of his set.
I'm looking for some test application for the PC and one for a DVD set.
Mono
Speaker position is recommended in a circle, as defined in ITU-775. Other than that, make sure the speakers are at ear height. Avoid mixing and matching the surrounds.

Microsoft provides a 5.1 WAV of a voice intoning the speaker positions. It's found on their Windows Media page.

If your PC has a DVD drive, the Avia test disc covers audio and video, as does Sound & Vision's Home THeater setup disc.
